My Warriors Place | Ruskin, Florida

There are no words that can express the how thankful we are for the brave men and women who were willing to risk everything, for millions of us that you may never meet. And, there is absolutely no words that can be said to those and to the families whose loved one(s) who did give their lives for us. However, we do Thank You for the sacrifice that your son(s) and daughter(s) made for us. My Warriors Place was started by Kelly Kowall, whose son Corey like many others gave his life for our continued freedom. My Warriors Place is not a counseling service, but a mentor-ship program designed to help our veterans and families who have lost a loved ones and to aid in their healing process.

My Warriors Place, is a place of gathering, where healing can begin, immediately after the battlefield. My Warriors Place offers 3 amazing services: a Retreat Center, FAVE Boating Expedition and Project Corregidor! Each organization plays an important role in the coping and healing process and the aid that is obtained through these organizations is priceless!

Grief & Peer Mentoring:

Project Corregidor: Our grief and peer mentoring program involves a network of Veterans, who have experienced the death of a brother-in-arms while serving in the armed forces, and who have been trained to be Peer Mentors for current military service members returning from deployments where they to have been affected by a similar tragedy. The program will support these military survivors and assist them to grieve their losses in their own unique ways, to help them draw upon their own strengths and to develop healthy coping mechanisms as well as to be only a phone call away.For more information about Project Corregidor, please visit the organization website.

My Warriors Place Retreat Center:

My Warrior’s Place offers a relaxed tropical setting nestled on the Little Manatee River in Ruskin, FL. Currently the property consists of 2 houses, 5 trailers, 4 RV pads and a Laundromat. Amenities include, but are not limited to, canoes, kayaks, fishing equipment, fire pit, screened in patios, basketball goal, bicycles, exercise room, hammocks, boat launch area and dock.This property provides a safe haven where healing can begin for those individuals who have endured the pain that stems from the death of a military service member. Corey's Story

Spc. Corey Kowall and a Medic were killed on September 20, 2009, while on route to lend aide and support at a location by their FOB in Afghanistan where IED’s had been detected.
