
ABOUT THE JROTC CADET COMPASS PROGRAM
We are excited about the implementation of a comprehensive leadership development program for JROTC cadets ages 16 - 18 in Hillsborough and surrounding Counties. This initiative aims to cultivate essential skills such as leadership, communication, resilience, and team-building, which are vital to their personal growth and future success. MOAA of Tampa has provided a grant to cover the expenses of the My Warrior’s Place facility in Punta Gorda, Cadet and Cadre housing, workshop materials, and the workshop facilitators.
Program Overview:
This weekend’s interactive program will be conducted on site at My Warrior’s Place, located at 3269 Duncan Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33982. Cadets will arrive Friday night and leave on Sunday afternoon, April 10th through April 12th, 2026.
Leadership Skills: Through interactive workshops and real-world scenarios, cadets will learn to lead with confidence and integrity.
Communication Skills: Training sessions will focus on enhancing verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, and effective feedback mechanisms.
Resilience: Cadets will learn to engage in activities designed to build mental toughness, adaptability, and the ability to thrive under pressure.
Team-Building: Collaborative exercises will foster trust, cooperation, and the understanding of diverse perspectives within a team environment.
Program Implementation:
- Duration: 2 days/2 nights (arriving by 7:00pm Friday and leaving by 2:00 pm Sunday)
- Format: A blend of workshops, seminars, group projects, and experiential learning activities.
- Facilitators: Experienced professionals with backgrounds in leadership training and youth
development.

This program will significantly contribute to the holistic development of our JROTC cadets, preparing them to excel in their future endeavors.
PROGRAM DATES AND TIMES: Friday, April 10th through Sunday, April 12th, 2026
**Housing is provided for the cadets and Adult supervisors throughout the program.
Friday, April 10th: Evening
6:00pm - 7:00pm: Arrive and get settled into their cottage
7:00pm - 8:30pm: Meet and Greet around a Firepit

Saturday, April 11th: All-day Cadet workshop (8 hours of classroom work)
Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner will be provided, with snacks & drinks available throughout the day. The Cadet will be expected to participate in workshop activities and classwork that are thought-provoking and educational.

Sunday, April 12th: Morning through afternoon
9:00am - 11:30am: Cadet workshop (4.5 hours)
11:30am - 1:00pm: Graduation Lunch and Ceremony
Breakfast and Lunch will be provided, with snacks & drinks available. The Cadet will be expected to participate in workshop activities that are thought-provoking and educational.
**Parent(s) or Legal Guardian(s) are allowed to attend the Graduation Lunch and Ceremony.
